In the new part, the authors – Director of the KarRC RAS Institute of Geology Sergey Svetov and artist Anna Danilova – continued the characters’ exciting journeys along geological routes. Where on their first journey they visited Mount Vottovaara, Girvas Paleovolcano, Chertov Stool locality, and the Marcial Waters spa, the new destinations will be the Kivach Waterfalls, Lake Ladoga, Ruskeala Mining Park, and the city of Petrozavodsk.

Popular science books produced by KarRC RAS Institute of Geology
As Dr. Sergey Svetov, Director of the KarRC RAS Institute of Geology, informed in his presentation, the idea to create a book for children came up after the institute published an "adult" popular-science guidebook "Geological Heritage of Karelia." That edition was recognized as Republic of Karelia Book of the Year in the Light of Science category.
– In the guidebook, we tried to present interesting geological routes in an adult reader-friendly language. Since our goal is to have as many people as possible to learn about the incredibly exciting geology of Karelia, I realized we need to start working with children. For them, the form of expression must be clear, succinct, and engaging, – said Sergey Svetov.

The journeys of Karelian baby animals are indeed vastly popular. The authors have donated hundreds of books to libraries and schools, and hand them out at various educational events. The electronic version has already been downloaded over a thousand times.
– I know a family that, at the urging of our young reader, has already traveled twice the entire route of our first book’s characters, – shared Sergey Svetov.

Sergey Svetov announced that, having considered the popularity of "The Adventures" and how well children are responding to the books, he plans to continue the work. An option is to combine the two editions into one, adding more stories.
Addressing the children, the scientist also reminded them that the Institute administers the activities of the Archean Young Geologists Club, which is free for schoolchildren keen on Earth Sciences and mineral resources.

The continuation of the Karelian baby animals’ journeys was published within the project "Karelia's Stone Chronicles: Popularizing Geological and Mining Heritage", supported by the Grant Fund of the Head of the Republic of Karelia. The book was printed by the KarRC RAS Editorial and Publishing Department.
